The State of Utah requires all security personnel to be trained through a training program approved by the Division of Professional Licensing. DOPL Security Licensing Act Rule: R156-63-101

Unarmed Private Security Officer

In order to apply for an Unarmed Private Security Officer License, the following requirements must be met:

• Completed a DOPL-approved 8 hour basic training course

• Fingerprint cards.*

Armed Private Security Officer

In order to apply for an Armed Private Security Officer License, the following requirements must be met

• Completion of a DOPL approved 8 hour basic training course
• Completion of a DOPL approved 12 hour firearm course
• Fingerprint cards.*

Armored Car Security Officer

In order to apply for an Armored Car Security Officer License, the following requirements must be met:

• Completion of a DOPL approved 8 hour basic training course
• Completion of a DOPL approved 12 hour firearm course
• Fingerprint cards.*
